Making Room for You: A Gentle Invitation into Winter
As a therapist, I jokingly admit I am all too excited to pull out sweaters and cardigans.
Temperatures cool, as leaves continue to fall off trees, and smoke billows from the chimneys of neighboring houses. Days become colder and the sun is often behind clouds. A human being can't help but notice on all of their senses that change is coming. Its literally in the air.
This can leave a sense of bracing for darker days, more time inside, which can bring isolation. Feelings of depression and anxiety due to the seasonal changes, and the chaos and busyness of the upcoming holiday season. The noise, suffering, chaos, whether on small or grand levels can leave the human heart weary and overwhelmed.
"Where did I go?" I've asked myself this question during various seasons of life over the years. Life can keep moving at an incredible pace. It can be hard to track with our emotions, what our body is trying to tell us, putting the needs of everyone else first, or simply wanting to find a way to escape in a good Netflix series (I get it!) It makes sense.
It can feel a lot. On every part of our being. Bracing for the winter months. But, what would it look like to connect with yourself through it?

Throughout the Month of November, I will be writing about what it looks like to create spaces of connection with self, how to cultivate meaningful times for yourself, and ways to return home to what's most important to you.
You are welcome to join me on this journey over the next few weeks through journal prompts, blog posts, and meaningful ways to create rituals & rhythms that invite you to quiet, reflective moments that work with your life.
